Why should I take this training course?
This training is required by Maryland law for beauty professionals applying for an original license or renewing a license. Beyond compliance, CHAIRside Safety™ equips barbers, cosmetologists, nail technicians, estheticians, and salon professionals with practical, chair-side skills to recognize signs of domestic violence, communicate safely and respectfully, and connect clients to resources—without increasing risk to the client or the professional. The course is trauma-informed, industry-specific, and designed to support safety, dignity, and professionalism.
How long is this course?
The course is one (1) hour in length and meets the State of Maryland’s Domestic Violence Awareness training requirement.
How is the course structured?
The CHAIRside Safety™ training is instructor-led and delivered through eight short, focused modules. The course includes:
- Clear instruction and real-world chair-side scenarios
- Brief interactive activities
- Knowledge checks and a final assessment
- Practical tools, scripts, and safety guidance specific to beauty professionals
The course is available live virtual or in-person and is designed to be engaging, respectful, and easy to apply in everyday professional settings.
